Rondos ‘Destroy the entertainment’ DoLP
De RONDOS were around from 1978 until 1980. Besides being an art-collective (dubio) who were sharing a building they used as a base to launch their commie rockets at CRASSholes, the police, nihilist punx and the corrupted consumer society at large... they made some fantastic records too. Grating repetetive stripped down angry compositions... songs is maybe not the right word. They introduced a new gestalt in the dutch music world; aestheticaly nothing to do with rock, playing on their own terms, writing their own zines... creating d.i.y. platforms to be inclusive and inspirational. Rehearsel spaces, gigs and stencilmachines. power to the people. This double lp collects their singles on the first side, a selection out of a live concert in 1978 on the second. The second lp contains their 'RED ATTACK' lp. The recordings are raw and to the point. no studio trickery, overdubs or hippy noodling here. The sound is maybe most related to english bands like Wire, Crisis, Crass (their friends turned foes) and Gang of four. They heavily inspired a new wave of dutch bands especially the Wormer & utreg 'scenes' The Ex, Zowiso, de Kift (rondos drummer!), the Nixe en vele anderen!

Bande-son du long-métrage éponyme réalisé par Patricia Gélise & Nicolas Deschuyteneer,
Fat Cat, c'est quoi ? Un bar à hôtesses, "anonyme", comme il y en a tant dans toutes les grandes et moyennes villes du monde. Avec ses clients, ses habitués, ses brigands-à-la-petite-semaine, ses complots, ses magouilles, ces entraîneuses, ses flics corrompus ou pas, ses indics, ses rendez-vous, ses histoires, ses vies, ses survies, ses rencontres, ses alcools, ses cocktails, ses accidents, sa boules à facettes, sa piste de danse désertée, et.... sa musique.

Dans tous les bars à hôtesses du monde, il y a de la musique. Radio souvent, cd's souvent également, juke-box de plus en plus rarement, karaoké, peut-être... la particularité notoire et bienvenue au Fat Cat (le lieu donc!) c'est que la musique y est omni-présente et jouée en live par un groupe de musiciens inamovibles, semblant être là depuis la nuit des temps, intemporels, et ne vivant que sur scène et derrière leurs instruments.
Décor vivant, tapisserie subrepticement présente, emplissant continuellement l'espace sans en avoir l'air. Ambiances jazzy, chanson-cabaret, atmosphères "lounge-détente", on y est bien, chez Fat Cat.
Et sur disque, on y est bien, aussi.
Les ambiances se suivent et se succèdent de manière extrêmement fluides... on oublie qu'il s'agit d'une bande-son. Et c'est en ça que ce disque est particulièrement réussi. Il est souvent difficile de faire le pas entre une bande-son "accompagnant" un film et que celle-ci tienne la route au-delà des images. Ici, c'est totalement le cas.
Après un début "carpenterien" pour planter un décor de tension sous-jacente, les plages s'écoutent d'elle-même, rendant bien l'atmosphère rampante, discrètement troublante et un brin sensuelle par moments, avec quelques réminiscenses-Jaques-Tati ou gainsbourgienne des 50ies, un brin d'électricité bluesy, voir rocky, slow/danse-à-deux, une autre pointe légèrement groovy, d'autres relents de poursuites-thriller, le tout entrecoupé de mini-dialogues nous rappelant que dans tous les Fat Cat du monde, il y a des mystères/complots qui se trament et des vies-échanges qui se nouent et se dénouent.
Un très bon album, qu'ici, on écoutera forcément, tard, la nuit, au milieu de vapeurs d'alcools forts, titubant dans nos désirs-quêtes de vie, accompagné de qui sera là, avec les portes de notre Fat Cat-à-nous grandes ouvertes.
Au-delà d'une bande son de film, c'est bel et bien d'un album en soi qu'il s'agit, composé de toute pièce par Wilf Plum (batteur du culte Dog Faced Hermans) qui a réussi à totalement se fondre/glisser au sein des différentes ambiances « manciniennes et autres... » hantant le disque de manière réellement confondante, "authentique".
Idéal pour tous les Fat Cat du monde ou pour siroter son whisky chez soi, seul ou accompagné. Tous chez Fat Cat! On peut même y danser!
Hats Off To The Professor: Radio Mix
Wilf Plum & Gasten lanceren de soundtrack LP van de film Fat Cat.
Fat Cat (Nicolas Deschuyteneer & Patricia Gélise - 2013) is een film noir die in Brussel speelt. De muziek is van Wilf Plum. Fat Cat zal in april in de Cinema Nova debuteren, maar de muziek van de LP is voorbestemd om wat eerder uit haar cartonnen opsluiting te ontvliegen. Wilf en zijn gasten, onder wie de meesten van de muzikanten die op de plaat spelen, zullen het grootste deel van 'de geluidsband' live uitvoeren en extra opwindingen en tuimelingen worden door de West Hell 5 (Amsterdams heetste mod crimi jazz combo) en Lem (chansons. electro-pop) gebracht. Aanvullend: actie/avontuur deuntjes met dank aan de Amsterdam Beat Club.
Het het optreden is ook ter ondersteuning van Aredje (Deux-Acren) en Red Wig (Amsterdam/Hamburg), twee onafhankelijk platenlabels LP die de plaat samen uitgebracht hebben.

Über die Platte 'The thing everything else is about' schreibt das Read Magazin aus Hamburg im Januar 2013 unter dem Stichwort 'Die (10) Platten, die uns gut durch 2012 gebracht haben':
Den Probenplan möchte ich nicht machen: Die sechs Mitglieder der Band sind aus Genf, Lyon, Bradford und Brüssel und kommen aus Kapellen wie Dog Faced Hermans, Spaceheads, Headache oder CreveCoeur. Sie verteilen sich auf Violine, Kontrabass, Posaune, Schlagzeug, Gitarre, Marimba, Percussion und machen einen seriösen, wirklich zeitlosen (!) Bastard aus No Wave, Post-Post-Post-Punk und Afrobeat mit einer sturen, in manchen Momenten Crass-ähnlichen Haltung. Komplett unglamorös, sehr ernsthaft und sehr super. Wer kann, unbedingt live ansehen.
De Kift bestaat 25 jaar - Jubileumtour 2013
De Kift was formed in Holland in 1988. Their music has influences from punk, fanfare and folk. They are known for their special projects and collaborations, like an opera, theatre shows, movies and soundtracks for films and documentaries. De Kift got awarded with a Silver Harp in 2001 and a Silver Cricket in 2012. The band celebrates their 25th anniversary in 2013 with and archive-album, an anniversary-tour, a festival and a new album.
Dutch journalist Bert Wagendorp once wrote about De Kift: “De Kift were born in fanfare, baptised in punk and grew up in love for music and poetry. It’s cheerful music, music full of melancholy. Music that brings a tear to your eye, or a smile upon your face.
De Kift inhabits a special place in Dutch pop history. Praised for going their own unruly ways and creating their wonderfully unique and stubborn sound. They emerged on the art/punk tides of the ’80s and evolved into a stirringly original group that combines brass horns, folk music, lyrics adapted from literary works, choral singing, pots and pans, and quite simply a very expansive attitude toward music.
The band says they can’t write lyrics, so they cut hidden treasures from the world’s literature into lyrics for their music. They’ve used work from writers as Wolfgang Borchert, Jan Arends, Venedikt Jerofejef, Flannery O’Connor, Werner Schwab en Daniil Charms.
De Kift is also widely praised for their cd packaging. Their album Hoofdkaas (2008) was packaged by tearing up old cookbooks. Krankenhaus (1993) came in a cigar case.
